Meet the Owner of DP Enterprise, Denise Paul

Tell us how you got into entrepreneurship.

At the mere age of 17 years old I had a senior class final exam project grade to pass in order to graduate, so my parents encourage and inspired me to not only do a project showing the supply and the demand of real estate investment s but to also make my project turn into a reality. My dad and the men in the family on my dad's side were serial entrepreneurs. They were all known around Louisiana as the "Higgins" men that didn't come to play! They introduced to me the dynamic opportunity investing in real estate would be upon my life. Once I've mastered the way I presented and cared for my product, market my product and solicit the correct audience, I would never be broke another day in my life! My parents were older and they knew they had me late in life so they had to make sure they instilled in me as much as they could about this thing called "life" and how to survive without them actually being able to even see my success as the woman I am today! I bought my first home at the age of 17, I became a landlord instantly because the tenant came with the home and I saw such a great need in my community let alone the world. I fell in love with the idea of tearing a home down to the frame and giving life to an entirely new structure and the smile my tenant has after being able to offer them a stable and quality lifestyle.

What’s one of the greatest accomplishments you have achieved in your business and what was key to seeing this success?

Never losing any of my homes and never becoming greedy with the type of lifestyle it provides for me and my adult children and their generation to come. Reading the fine print and having an appropriate legal team behind me.

Where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?

Before I retire from investing, I see myself building a development of 30 homes for single families. Either with other investors or alone because "I can" and we ladies can do it!

What do you love most about being a CEO Chick?

I invest in myself so the cost of educational learning is the most economical right now. CEO Chicks is in my monthly budget! The staff and founder are very down-to-Earth and always with an open-door policy.

Who inspires you?

My parents did as well as Annetta Powell.

What is your favorite book/podcast you recommend to our CEO Chicks?

"Secrets To A Beautiful You" by Yours Truly!

What advice would you give other aspiring entrepreneurs?
