Check out our CEO Chick of the month, Sharleen M. Heartwell. We were able to ask a few questions on her journey.... Here is what she said

Why entrepreneurship? I had 3 back surgeries and wasn't able to work anymore. I needed to do something from home since I had always been a go getter, and sitting at home was not cutting it. I needed to provide for my family & I wanted to be able to live with a freedom that no one in my family ever experienced. I wanted to be able to go to all my son's field trips, school activities, football and basketball games, and go on family vacations. I simply wanted to create a legacy that all my children and grandchildren can benefit from.

Did entrepreneurship find you or did you find it? I believe it found me. I wasn't looking to be an entrepreneur but God shifted my life in a way that caused me to search for other routes to have a career, regardless of the health situation I was going through at the time. The life of an entrepreneur is the best way to live and I thank God daily or it!

As a business leader, what’s some of your greatest challenges? Currently my greatest challenge is maintaining a flexible work schedule, while not letting it overpower time with my family and time for myself. In my industry there is an urgency to place orders when customers reach out for contact. I help clients all over the world in different time zones. While I try to establish specific work hours I risk losing customers due to not being available at that very moment in time.

When you’re not in business mode, what do you do for down time? I'm a mother, wife, auntie, & admin assistant for the Outreach department in my church. It's my passion to spend time with my family, help raise my niece, and help grow the ministry as we increase the Kingdom of God. I love spending time with God, read self-development books, and enjoy as much family time as I can.

As a CEO Chick, how are you dominating your industry? Being a CEO Chick, but most importantly being obedient to the Lord, has helped me dominate in my industry. My clients, new and existing, always come first and I am diligent in my customer service to them. My main focus is always first on the individual versus just selling my product and that tends to keep people coming to me for business.

What your number one advice to a fellow CEO chick or aspiring business leader? Life will always try to tear you down but always stay looking to God for He made you for such a time as this!! So know that God has created you for what you are doing and He will get you through those obstacles to reach those end goals and dreams!

What’s three things you would tell your younger self in business?     Be obedient & listen to God. Read self-development books from the very beginning. Prepare for many failures but know they will only make you stronger!!

What keeps you creative in business? What keeps me creative in business is really focusing on each person, what they like, and ultimately building a lasting relationship. Doing this makes it easy for me to continue to grab their attention. I get to know them and with that I am able to know how to talk to them and spark their interest.

What can we expect next from you? Continued growth! There is no where else to go but to the top.
